Abu Dhabi has launched the "Dark Sky Policy" to reduce light pollution and preserve Abu Dhabi’s night sky.

The new initiative targets both public and private sectors, enforcing regulations on outdoor and interior lighting.

Measures include regulating outdoor lighting in buildings, streets, parks, beaches and commercial organisations, and coordinated shutdowns of non-security lights at midnight.

Residents will also learn about responsible lighting practices through awareness campaigns, to help safeguard the environment.
