A hip hop artist has sued Ariana Grande over copyright infringement.
In his lawsuit, Josh Stone, who performs under the moniker DOT, said that "highly regarded musicology experts" have concluded that Grande's hit 7 Rings was copied from a song he recorded two years earlier - You Need It, I Got It.
Apart from the monetary damages, he also seeks to bar Grande from performing 7 Rings and wants all copies of the song destroyed.
The pop star's 2019 single has been nominated for two Grammys, including the record of the year.
7 Rings gives songwriting credit to Grande, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein because it borrows from their classic My Favorite Things from the 1959 film Sound of Music, and seven other people.
