GCC Summit stresses enhanced cooperation, joint action on regional issues

WAM

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) leaders have wrapped up their 46th Summit in Bahrain with a pledge to deepen regional integration and strengthen joint action on emerging challenges.

In their closing 'Sakhir Declaration', the leaders committed to closer political, security and economic coordination, and reaffirmed the principle that the security of GCC states is indivisible.

They also called for respect for regional sovereignty and backed efforts to secure a lasting peace in the Middle East, including support for humanitarian aid and a two-state solution for Palestine.

The declaration highlighted priorities such as economic diversification, digital transformation, climate action and enhanced cooperation on cybersecurity and clean energy.

The leaders also stressed the importance of global partnerships to counter extremism, protect maritime security and promote stability.

The summit concluded with a call to strengthen GCC institutions and expand long-term cooperation to ensure security and prosperity across the region.

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, chaired the UAE delegation to the summit.

Sheikh Mansour also took part in the joint GCC-Italian session, attended by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni — the summit's guest of honour — along with the leaders of the GCC states and their representatives.
