Dubai Police issues nearly 49,000 fines for expired vehicle registrations

Dubai Police issued 48,950 traffic fines for driving vehicles with expired registration during the first 10 months of 2026.

Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, said motorists caught driving with expired registration face a AED 500 fine, four traffic points and seven days of vehicle impoundment.

He warned that failing to renew registration could also mean vehicles remain on the road without the technical inspections needed to identify problems with tyres, brakes, lighting and steering systems.

Motorists could face further financial and legal consequences if their insurance has also expired and they are involved in an accident.

January recorded the highest number of violations, with 6,977 fines, followed by February with 6,768 and March with 6,573.

Dubai Police are urging motorists to check registration and insurance expiry dates, complete vehicle inspections on time and settle outstanding traffic fines promptly.

Authorities say motorists can use smart services to check and pay fines and complete vehicle registration procedures online.
