Vladimir Putin arrives in UAE for historic state visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been welcomed by Abu Dhabi Crown Prince at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi.

He’s been given an official reception at the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

They were greeted by a guard of honour and a traditional Emirati troupe.

The two leaders have held talks focusing on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.

They also witnessed the signing of several agreements in vital sectors like trade, investment, energy, sustainability and environment.

Putin congratulated the UAE for sending its first astronaut to space and said Russia would continue to support the country's space ambitions.

The Russian president's state visit to the UAE, which is his first in 12 years, comes after he completed a trip to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, a series of police and traffic patrols in Abu Dhabi have been decked in the national colours of both nations.
