The UAE has welcomed Syria's announcement on reaching a roadmap to resolve the crisis in Sweida governorate, commending the efforts of Jordan and the US in achieving this outcome.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reaffirmed the importance of reinforcing stability to safeguard Syria and its unity, prevent further loss of life, ensure civilian protection and uphold its sovereignty.

The Ministry further expressed the UAE’s solidarity with Syria, along with its committed support for all measures implemented by the government in fulfilling their goals for security, peaceful coexistence and development.

According to an announcement by Syria's Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani, the roadmap includes holding civilian attackers accountable, resuming humanitarian and medical aid, compensating those affected, and ensuring the return of displaced people and abductees. It follows talks between al-Shaibani and his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman Safadi, and US envoy to Syria Tom Barrack in Damascus.

The Saudi and Kuwait Foreign Ministry also welcomed the roadmap and reaffirmed their support for all steps taken by Syria to achieve security and stability and preserve its resources and territorial integrity.

A ceasefire is in place in Suwayda since July 19, following a week of armed clashes between Druze groups and Bedouin tribes.
