The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned an attempt by Houthi militia to target Makkah with a ballistic missile.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said the attempt to target the Holy City during Ramadan is a sign of the moral bankruptcy of the militants.
It also pointed out that the timing of this attack indicated that the militias are dependent on external agendas.
The UAE expressed its solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, saying it stood alongside the Kingdom in all measures taken to safeguard its security and stability.
Saudi Arabia’s air forces intercepted two ballistic missiles on Monday, including one heading for Makkah and the other for Jeddah.
The weapons were fired by Houthi militants from Yemen.
The UAE has urged the international community to act immediately to stop such terrorist attacks targeting holy places.
