UAE, Lebanon to enhance ties in economic and investment sectors

WAM

The UAE and Lebanon have agreed to enhance cooperation in key sectors, including economic and investment, "through joint opportunities, knowledge exchange and government development".

It comes following Lebanese President Joseph Aoun's first official visit to the UAE since taking office.

The two sides also agreed to allow travel for citizens by implementing necessary procedures and mechanisms to ease movement between the two countries.

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held talks with Aoun on strengthening bilateral relations in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

His Highness expressed desire to work jointly with Lebanon to foster development, prosperity, security and regional stability, and underscored the UAE’s support for Lebanon’s security, stability and sovereignty, national news agency Wam reported.

Sheikh Mohamed reaffirmed Lebanon’s strategic importance within the Arab world, affirming that Lebanon is a key pillar of joint Arab action.

Both sides expressed their aspiration to raise the level of mutual diplomatic representation and agreed to establish a joint UAE-Lebanon Business Council.

A high-level government delegation from the UAE will visit Lebanon to explore and assess joint cooperation projects.

Aoun expressed his thanks and appreciation to Sheikh Mohamed for his kind sentiments towards Lebanon and its people.
