The UAE has dispatched 91 tonnes of urgent medical aid to Botswana in response to its medical crisis.
The UAE directed a dispatch of an aircraft carrying essential medicines and supplies to enhance the capacity of hospitals and medical centers to provide essential treatment and care to citizens and residents.
The aid delivery follows the President of Botswana Duma Boko's declaration of a medical emergency in August 2025 involving a severe shortage of medical supplies.
Public health facilities across the country have reported acute shortages of medicines, particularly affecting patients with chronic medical conditions. The crisis has been worsened by increasing global demand and escalating costs.
The aid delivered by the UAE will address this shortage and ensure the continuity of healthcare in hospitals and clinics in Botswana.
