The UAE cabinet has issued a resolution to ensure individuals and firms comply with the country’s nuclear safety regulations. It specifies details of penalties, including fines and suspension of violators’ licenses. Four nuclear reactors are currently under construction in Abu Dhabi’s Western Region, with the first unit scheduled to start operating in 2017. The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation has been tasked with setting safety standards and licensing users of radioactive material.
