Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, have explored ways of supporting shared development goals.
During a phone call, the ministers discussed ways to enhance cooperation across sectors in line with the interests of both nations' people.
The conversation follows a meeting in May between UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of Azerbaijan's National Assembly, which focused on strengthening parliamentary collaboration.
In March, the UAE welcomed the announcement of the successful conclusion of peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. While the decades-long conflict over the Karabakh region has subsided, the formal signing of the peace agreement remains pending.
Azerbaijan has said a prerequisite for its signature is a change to Armenia's constitution, which it says makes implicit claims to its territory.
Armenia denies such claims, but Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has said repeatedly in recent months that the country's founding document needs to be replaced and has called for a referendum to do so. No date has been set.
