At least nine people have been injured following a major crash in Fujairah that involved 20 vehicles.

It led to the complete closure of the road between Waib Al Hannah and Dibba, Fujairah Police informed in an update on social media.

The authority said eight people sustained "minor" injuries, while one experienced "moderate" wounds.

An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident, Fujairah Police said, adding that "necessary legal measures"  will be taken.

The authority called on drivers to exercise caution, adhere to the speed limits and leave sufficient distance between vehicles - especially on mountain roads and areas with heavy traffic.
