The high number of new international schools in the UAE is putting pressure on teacher recruitment from overseas. That’s according to top education provider, Taleem, who train their staff to improve their performance. Turnover of teachers in the UAE is also high. Maggie Wright, the Director of Education and Performance at Taleem, says retention of good teachers is always a challenge, "It is a highly competitive industry. Teachers are always looking across the road to see what packages they are being offered." Working as a teacher in the UAE also has a particular set of challenges. Wright explains, "The UAE national inspection framework is quite different to any other framework in the world, even OFSTED (the education inspection system in the UK), and it has changed annually. A lot of our teachers training on how to measure progress."
