RTA self-driving comp opens with AED 11m prize

Registration has opened for the fourth Dubai World Challenge for Self-Driving Transport with an AED 11 million ($3 million) prize up for grabs.

Entrants must propose new autonomous transportation systems, which include at least two modes of transport such as self-driving taxis, autonomous buses, autonomous marines, autonomous drones or autonomous aviation.

All proposed transport must meet at least SAE Level 3 of autonomy. 

The challenge is part of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority’s strategy to transform 25 percent of all mobility trips in Dubai into self-driving ones by 2030.
