22 people who have been locked up in Dubai because of rental cases against them are set to be released before Eid al-Adha.
A young Emirati businessman named Abdullah Ahmed Al Ansari has donated a substantial amount of money to cover a large proportion of claims that were issued by the Rental Disputes Centre against the prisoners.
"This generous initiative is considered the first of its kind in Dubai," said Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director-General of the Dubai Land Department.
"DLD will cooperate with Dubai Police to complete the release procedures of the prisoners after the payments have been settled."
