A new Philippine passport renewal centre has opened in Abu Dhabi.
Its inauguration on Friday, June 12, coincides with the commemoration of Philippine Independence Day.
The facility, which is operated by VFS Global, is located at the World Trade Centre (Level B2, The Mall) in Abu Dhabi city.
The new centre will start accepting applications from June 14 and will operate daily from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, offering the convenience of weekend processing as well.
It's the second facility of its kind in the UAE. The first Philippine passport renewal centre was opened at the Wafi Mall in Dubai in November, 2019.
"It is also very timely, given the need to reduce travel and observe strict physical distancing and other health protocols during the pandemic,” said Hjayceelyn M. Quintana, Philippine Ambassador to the UAE.
In line with the precautionary measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19, appointment scheduling at the renewal centre has been made mandatory temporarily.
