The American Heart Association say the technology can result in a "higher rate of bystander-initiated CPR." According to national news agency WAM, the leading app, PulsePoint Respond, alerts users to a nearby cardiac arrest, and directs them to the location. It also provides guidance and notifies users of the closest available Automated External Defibrillator.
