As the first batch of COVID-19 vaccines from the UAE arrived at the Gaza Strip, prominent names in Palestine have thanked the country for supporting their health sector in the fight against coronavirus.

Speaking to national news agency WAM, human rights activist Khalil Abu Shamala, Salah Abdel Aty, Head of the International Commission to Support Palestinian Rights, and Political analyst Nidal Khadra expressed their gratitude and urged the international community to take a cue from the UAE and unite in the fight against COVID-19.

Shamala said the delivery of the vaccines empowered the "dilapidated health sector medical sector" to deal with the global crisis, while Aty called on the international community to take a cue from the UAE and step in to protect the Palestinian people from the pandemic.

Khadra highlighted that the UAE has always been proactive in supporting the Palestinian people.
