Rain forecast for parts of UAE until July 28

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather alert, forecasting rain of varying intensities across parts of the UAE until Monday, July 28.

According to the forecast, "convective clouds" are expected to form over eastern and southern areas of the country, with some areas likely to experience hail, lightning and thunder.

The weather is attributed to the influence of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) moving northward. The ITCZ is a low-pressure area near the equator where winds from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres come together. It is known for being hot, humid and stormy because the rising air forms clouds that often lead to heavy rain and thunderstorms.

Also influencing the weather are low-pressure systems and humid air masses from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman. These conditions, combined with rising daytime temperatures and mountainous terrain, could lead to rainstorms.

Winds are expected to be southeasterly to northeasterly, moderate to strong at times, especially near convective clouds. Blowing dust and sand may reduce visibility in affected areas.

The sea is expected to be slightly rough in both the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, the NCM added.
