The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has marked World No-Tobacco Day with a powerful anti-smoking campaign highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco products.

The campaign, organised by MoHAP's Health Promotion Department, has been running from May 22 to coincide with World No Tobacco Day, celebrated annually on May 31.

Informative workshops and lectures made up large parts of the campaign, which aimed at educating people on the harmful effects of tobacco, such as cutting lives short by an average of 10 years.

The campaign also highlights ways in which smokers can quit, along with offering "nicotine" tests for participants attending the events.

Activities were held across the UAE, including in schools in Sharjah, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain University, and the Emirates Association for Social Development in Ras Al Khaimah.
