Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, underscored Dubai’s role as a global hub for inclusive and future-ready urban growth at the opening ceremony of the Asia Pacific Cities Summit & Mayors' Forum at Expo City.
Al Hashimy, who also holds the position of CEO of Expo City Dubai Authority, was accompanied by Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary General of the Executive Council of Dubai and Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Councillor Adrian Schrinner.
Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, the Summit will be from October 27-29.
Schrinner highlighted the significance of bringing the influential forum to the region for the first time in its 29-year history.
The Summit, which will welcome more than 150 mayors and leaders from over 300 cities, will emphasize the importance of collaboration, shared learning and turning ideas into action.
The opening ceremony saw the Al Wasl dome light up with an enchanting display and a performance by the Firdaus Orchestra.
