A seven-member drug gang run by a trafficker based abroad has been dismantled by the Dubai Police.

A total of 26 kg of narcotics and 27,913 tramadol tablets, including crystal meth, hashish, heroin and marijuana were seized during raids at multiple locations.

The suspects, who used multiple drop-off locations to avoid detection, were arrested following meticulous field surveillance and "a planned ambush" by members of the Anti-Narcotics Team.

After close surveillance, the first suspect was traced to his residence and small quantity of crystal meth seized. Further investigations revealed he was being instructed by a trafficker abroad to drop off the drugs at two different locations.

“A carefully planned ambush led to the arrest of the remaining six suspects, including those who hid the drugs at the two sites and those who arrived to collect them," revealed Brigadier Khaled bin Muiza, Director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police.

"Further investigations revealed that the gang relied on distributing drugs at various locations, either to exchange quantities or deliver them to users. They were working with an international syndicate outside the UAE to traffic, promote, and harm the community."

Dubai Police emphasized the success of these efforts, noting the role of advanced technologies and international cooperation in combatting drug trafficking, and urged the public to report any suspicious activities by calling 901 or via the Dubai Police Smart App.
