The share of clean energy in Dubai’s overall power output has increased to around 9 per cent.

This means the emirate has already exceeded its target of 7 per cent for this year, as per the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy.

The overall aim is to generate 75 per cent of energy through clean sources by the year 2050.

Currently, DEWA’s (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) total installed electricity capacity is 11,700 MW, which includes 1,013 MW from photovoltaic panels at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park - the largest of its kind in the world.

The solar park’s overall capacity is expected to reach 5,000 MW by 2030.
