Hundreds of homes in Hatta have started generating their own electricity, thanks to a new clean energy initiative.
Solar panels have been retrofitted on the rooftops of more than 550 villas in the area as part of DEWA's Shams Dubai project.
Each of the houses are expected to generate over 6,500 kilowatt hours of power annually, in addition to reducing CO2 emissions by 2,100 tonnes every year.
The homes are also linked to DEWA's grid to help transfer any excess power.
