UAE suffer narrow defeat in Asia Cup qualifier

The UAE lost to Kuwait by one wicket in their Asia Cup qualifying campaign in Oman on Sunday.

After losing the toss and being sent to bat, the UAE scored 173-5 off 20 overs.

Chirag Suri top scored with 88 runs (61 balls) while Muhammad Waseem contributed 35 and Vriitya Aravind hit 33.

In reply, Kuwait reached 177-9 with one ball remaining. 

The UAE will play their second game against Singapore on Monday, while Kuwait will take on Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Only one out of the four teams will qualify for the Asia Cup, which will be played in the UAE from August 27 to September 11.
