European Ryder Cup star Tommy Fleetwood has confirmed his participation in the 2025 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, adding more excitement to the prestigious event scheduled for January 16-19 at Emirates Golf Club.
Fleetwood will compete alongside defending champion Rory McIlroy, who aims to secure a record fifth Dallah Trophy victory. The tournament is part of the $9 million Rolex Series on the DP World Tour's Race to Dubai.
The former Race to Dubai champion, who clinched his seventh DP World Tour title at the Dubai Invitational earlier this year, will make his 14th consecutive appearance at the Majlis Course.
A Dubai resident, Fleetwood is eager to replicate past successes in the UAE, including his back-to-back Abu Dhabi titles in 2017 and 2018.
“I always enjoy starting my season in the Middle East,” said Fleetwood, who also earned a Silver Medal at the Paris Olympics this year. “The Hero Dubai Desert Classic has become a tournament I love, and I’m looking forward to playing close to home in front of friends and family.”
The Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the Middle East’s oldest golf tournament, celebrates its 36th edition in 2025. Established in 1989, it has been pivotal in promoting golf in the region and is part of the prestigious Rolex Series. It also remains the only GEO Certified® tournament in the Middle East, a recognition it first received in 2024.
