Qatar considers Bedouin tents to house fans

Fans of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar may be housed in Bedouin-style tents in deserts close to the stadiums. It’s being reported that organisers are considering the idea as an alternative to hotel rooms. A spokesperson said it was a way to showcase the hospitality and friendship of the Middle East. In 2010, Qatar said it would create more than 55,000 rooms, but authorities confirmed earlier this year that only 46,000 would be ready. FIFA wanted 60,000 rooms to be available. The GCC nation has spent billions of dollars enhancing its infrastructure in preparation for the mega football event, which kicks off in November 2022.
