The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI) has signed an agreement with Pact Carbon to launch a pilot project aimed at expanding the use of electric bicycle in the UAE.
The agreement also includes a study to explore future expansion opportunities, in line with the UAE’s national goals for green and sustainable mobility.
Sharif Al Olama, Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs at MoEI, emphasised that the agreement is a significant step towards reducing the carbon footprint of the transportation sector. He stated, “The ministry is committed to driving the transition to green mobility and achieving climate neutrality by promoting sustainable transportation options like electric bicycles.”
Al Olama highlighted the project’s goal to reduce carbon emissions and foster a culture of green mobility, encouraging innovation in the transportation sector.
He also reiterated the ministry's focus on enhancing public-private sector partnerships to develop technological solutions that support sustainability.
Oleg Baltin, CEO of Pact Carbon, expressed his commitment to ensuring the success of the pilot project, which he believes will pave the way for future collaborations with the MoEI, furthering the UAE’s vision of a sustainable future.
