Ras Al Khaimah has been named one of the best places in the world to watch the sunset, according to a new study by travel company Kuoni.
The emirate ranked 11th out of 165 destinations worldwide for “golden hour”, with a score of 86.96 out of 100.
The ranking was developed with Jim Dale, Founder and Senior Meteorologist at British Weather Services. It assessed each destination on six factors: cloud cover, light pollution, artificial brightness, rainfall, wind speed and how long sunsets last.
Jordan’s Wadi Rum came top with a near-perfect score of 95.92, followed by Sossusvlei and Damaraland in Namibia.
Oman’s Wahiba Sands was the highest-ranked destination in the Gulf, in fifth place.
Namibia was the standout country overall, with three spots in the top six, while Greece led Europe with four locations in the top 20.
California’s San Joaquin Valley topped the list in North America.
