The Dubai World Obstacle Championship 2024 has kicked off with 1,170 top athletes and teams competing.
The event, which runs until December 8, is taking place at the Dubai Design District and the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf.
Organised by Dubai Police, the Department of Economy and Tourism, and the Dubai Sports Council, in partnership with the International Federation of Obstacle Sports, the championship offers a prize pool of AED 500,000.
Abdul Basit Ali, Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, highlighted the event’s importance, showcasing the UAE’s leadership in hosting global sports events.
He noted the unique opportunity for athletes to challenge themselves and make remarkable achievements, while also contributing to the development of future athletes and promoting sports values within the community.
The championship features various race categories, including individual, team and special national team events, across distances of 100 metres, 2.5 km, 5 km and 1.5 km.
