Dubai is stepping up its commitment to public health this summer with the launch of 'Dubai Mallathon', a community initiative that transforms shopping malls into fitness hubs.
From August 1 to 31, seven major shopping destinations will offer dedicated walking and running tracks every morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Participating malls include Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, Springs Souk, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Marina Mall.
The initiative encourages residents of all ages to stay active despite the summer heat, offering walking and running tracks, fitness stations, guided stretches, and even children’s activity zones—all in air-conditioned comfort.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, said the initiative is part of Dubai's efforts to set new global benchmarks in wellbeing by making fitness an integral part of daily life.
'Dubai Mallathon' also seeks to make the most of the vast, underutilised indoor spaces in major malls by transforming them into safe and dynamic sporting environments.
It targets all segments of society, including youth, senior citizens, residents, children and shopping mall employees.
Participation is free, and registration can be completed through dubaimallathon.ae, with participants receiving a digital pass to take part.
The initiative is backed by the Ministry of Defence and the Dubai Sports Council, with support from restaurants and retailers offering health-focused deals.
Sheikh Hamdan said the goal is to turn everyday spaces into places that inspire movement, better habits, and stronger community ties.
