Abu Dhabi Biobank has launched private cord blood banking services, offering expectant families an affordable and accessible way to preserve their newborns’ stem cells locally.
This new service addresses the growing demand for cord blood banking, which is instrumental in treating over 80 life-threatening diseases, including thalassemia, leukemia and sickle cell anemia.
The biobank is offering the service at half the cost of current market rates, with flexible payment plans, and has partnered with leading healthcare facilities like M42’s Danat Al Emarat Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Corniche Hospital, and Kanad Hospital.
Unlike previous services that shipped samples abroad, the Abu Dhabi Biobank will store cord blood locally at its facility in Masdar City, ensuring long-term storage for up to 30 years with state-of-the-art technology.
This offers families peace of mind, knowing their stem cells are safe and can be accessed from anywhere in the world if needed.
Cord blood is collected from a newborn's umbilical cord immediately after birth, and is a rich source of hematopoietic stem cells, which can develop into various blood and immune system cells.
