A man has been arrested and a terror probe launched after a knife attack in south-east France left two people dead.

According to reports, the attacker, now identified as a 33-year-old man from Sudan, entered a couple of shops in the town of Romans-sur-Isère and stabbed customers.

He later surrendered to the police, and was "found on his knees on the pavement".

Five people were injured in the attack, which President Emmanuel Macron described as "an odious act".

It comes as the country is under lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus.
