Powerful storms have moved through the US Midwest on Tuesday, leaving at least two people dead and nearly a million without power, officials said.
The casualties include a 4-year-old child who died after a tree fell on his home in Geneva Township in Indiana, according to Jennings County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Cody Low.
Meanwhile, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine stated that one person died after flooding obstructed first responders from reaching the individual in Roseville.
Local media also reported that one person died in a home explosion and fire that occurred after storms moved through Portage, Indiana. Police said the cause of the explosion remained under investigation.
Over 800,000 electricity customers across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky were without power as of midnight Eastern Time on Tuesday, the poweroutage.us website showed.
"Even after the storms exit the state, flooding will remain a serious concern," Ohio's governor noted.
