Halle Bailey will star in the role of Ariel in a live action remake of The Little Mermaid.
Disney has cast the 19-year-old singer in the leading role, with Rob Marshall saying she possesses “a rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence and substance” and a “glorious singing voice.”
The film will feature new songs written by Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda.
