Dubai’s Hatta Customs Crossing recorded a major increase in trade during the first half of 2026, with the value of goods passing through the crossing rising 175 per cent year-on-year.
Dubai Customs says the crossing handled trade worth AED 37.08 billion, compared with AED 13.48 billion during the same period last year.
The number of loaded trucks also surged, rising 160 per cent to more than 108,800.
Passenger traffic increased as well, with more than 919,000 travellers and around 322,000 light vehicles passing through the crossing. The number of buses rose 77.5 per cent.
Dubai Customs says the figures highlight Hatta’s growing role as a key overland trade route and reflect Dubai’s ability to keep goods and supply chains moving despite changes in regional and global trade patterns.
The customs authority has also expanded the use of smart technology to improve the security and efficiency of cargo movement.
During the first six months of the year, nearly 7,900 electronic seals were used on trucks under the Shahin smart seal system.
Meanwhile, customs inspectors at Hatta recorded 129 seizures during the first half of 2026, as part of efforts to protect the economy and ensure border security.
Dubai Customs says the results support the emirate’s wider goal of strengthening its position as a global hub for trade and investment.
