Passengers travelling through Dubai airports will be charged a new fee. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, has approved a new resolution related to the collection of fees from passengers using airport facilities in Dubai. Under the new rule, any passenger leaving the Emirates from an airport in Dubai will have to pay a AED35 service fee for using airport facilities. This includes transit passengers, except those whose arrival and departure flight number is the same. Children under the age of two and cabin crew are exempted from the fees. All airlines operating in Dubai will collect the fees as part of ticket fares starting March 1 for flights departing Dubai from June 30. The resolution aims to improve Dubai’s airport infrastructure and boost its capacity.
