Google’s virtual reality headset offers cut-price option for tech fans

Google's virtual reality-enabled headset

Google has released a virtual reality headset on Tuesday that is more affordable than other options on the market. Daydream View – a headset and controller for viewing virtual reality media with a smartphone – was showcased in San Francisco on Tuesday. Costing about AED 290, the device is several times cheaper than similar products from HTC and Facebook Inc’s Oculus and can be used for gaming and watching films. The launch coincides with the release of Daydream, software Google hopes will replicate the far reach of its Android mobile operating system. However, the only phones that currently work with it are the search engine’s new Pixel devices, which were also released on Tuesday.
