Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy highlights emirate’s strength for content creators

WAM

Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, one of the three chambers operating under the umbrella of Dubai Chambers, has highlighted Dubai’s advantages as a global destination for content creators and a leading hub for companies specialising in the production and development of digital content, at the 1 Billion Followers Summit.

Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, said the emirate’s advanced infrastructure, stable business environment and global connectivity continue to attract digital entrepreneurs and creative talent from around the world.

The three-day event, organised by the UAE Government Media Office under the theme “Content for Good”, is being held across Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and the Museum of the Future.

“Why Dubai?”

During a keynote session titled “Why Dubai?”, Al Gergawi said the city offers a strong platform for launching and scaling digital businesses, supported by investment-friendly regulations and a diverse, highly skilled workforce.

He said these strengths align with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to generate AED 100 billion a year through digital transformation projects.

“Dubai provides creative talent with an ideal environment to innovate, collaborate and scale purpose-driven content,” Al Gergawi said, adding that access to global markets and specialised teams gives creators a competitive edge.

Supporting the digital economy

Al Gergawi outlined several initiatives designed to support entrepreneurs and startups, including Dubai Founders HQ, a joint platform with the Department of Economy and Tourism that connects founders with investors, corporates and partners.

He also pointed to Expand North Star, the world’s largest startup and investor event, which last year brought together more than 2,000 startups, 40 unicorns, and investors managing over $1.1 trillion in assets.

Other programmes highlighted included the Create Apps Championship, which has attracted more than 5,800 participants since 2023 and supported the launch of over 55 smart applications.

Focus on skills and innovation

The chamber also stressed the importance of developing advanced digital skills, noting that Dubai will host the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals in November 2026, one of the world’s leading coding competitions.

Al Gergawi said hosting the event reinforces Dubai’s position as a global innovation hub and supports efforts to build a future-ready digital economy.

Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy is a strategic partner of the summit, reflecting its role in promoting creative industries, digital innovation and content that contributes to sustainable development goals.
