Dubai Police have issued a warning about the dangers of not giving way at pedestrian crossings after a girl suffered serious injuries when a car knocked her bicycle down while attempting to cross the street in Al Yalayis 1 area in Mira community.
In a statement issued on social media platform X, Dubai Police said the girl is undergoing treatment in hospital without revealing when the incident occurred.
Brigadier Jumaa bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, urged motorists to reduce speed and give priority to pedestrians at designated crossings and residential areas.
He added that violators will face a fine of AED 500 and six black points.
