Authorities in the UAE have helped reunite an Australian family who was stranded in Sri Lanka due to a COVID-19 lockdown.
The mother and three children were unable to return to the UAE following a lockdown while on holiday in Sri Lanka.
They have now been reunited with the father in Dubai.
The UAE authorities' quick intervention and coordination with their Sri Lankan counterparts helped facilitate the family's return home.
Upon their arrival at Dubai International Airport, the 40-year-old woman and her children aged 11, 10 and 7, were received by a medical team to complete the procedures and medical tests.
The mother expressed her overwhelming joy at being reunited with her husband.
"We are very thankful to the UAE Government for its efforts in reuniting our family," she told news agency WAM.
