UAE’s General Authority of Civil Aviation denies blacklist claims

GCAA

Media reports that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has included UAE airports on a blacklist are false.

That’s according to the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), which says it has received clarifications from EASA.

Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, said: "According to the clarifications we have received from the European Aviation Safety Agency, the list that has been published is specific to the airports in which precautionary measures must be taken and it includes most of the major international airports."

The Director General also pointed out that what the EASA announced does not constitute a blacklist and that what was published by some media outlets was out of context.
