The UAE has welcomed the decision by the administration of US President Donald Trump to designate the Sudanese Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the move reflects the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to counter actions by the group that have destabilised Sudan and undermined attempts to resolve the conflict.
The ministry added that the designation is a significant step in efforts by the United States to cut off resources that could enable the Muslim Brotherhood to carry out, support, or justify acts of extremism, hatred and terrorism.
It also reaffirmed the UAE’s support for international efforts to combat extremism and terrorism, as well as to strengthen regional and global security.
