The UAE sent an aid plane containing 67 metric tonnes of various food items to Gambia.
The move comes as part of the emirates’ efforts to help meet the basic food needs of the West African nation’s population, who may have been affected by the socioeconomic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UAE previously sent an aid plane containing five metric tons of medical supplies to Gambia in order to support the country’s fight against the coronavirus.
This aid, which was sent in May 2020, benefited approximately 5,000 healthcare workers in their efforts to contain the virus.
