The foreign ministers of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan have jointly condemned Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir over the treatment of detainees linked to a Gaza-bound flotilla.
In a joint statement, the countries described the treatment of detainees in Israeli custody as “appalling” and accused Ben-Gvir of deliberately humiliating those being held.
The ministers said the actions violated international law, including humanitarian and human rights obligations.
The statement also condemned what it described as incitement and violence by Ben-Gvir and other Israeli officials against Palestinians in the occupied territories.
The countries warned that such actions risk fuelling extremism and undermining efforts to achieve a lasting peace based on a two-state solution.
The ministers called for accountability and urged steps to prevent further provocations, while stressing the importance of protecting detainees’ rights and ensuring humane treatment in line with international law.
