The UAE's President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the Children's National Hospital in Washington DC, where he was briefed on its leading work in pediatric surgery and healthcare.
This visit underscores the UAE's longstanding support for the hospital, including a significant $150 million contribution for the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation and an additional $30 million for the Children's National Research & Innovation Campus.
During his tour, His Highness met with medical staff and explored various specialized departments, including the advanced Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Command Centre, which uses artificial intelligence to monitor patients and facilitate telemedicine consultations globally, including in Abu Dhabi and at the UAE field hospital in Gaza.
He also learned about groundbreaking innovations like a miniature pacemaker for infants developed at the Sheikh Zayed Institute, which has already benefited over 40 pediatric patients, thanks to the UAE’s investment.
In addition, Sheikh Mohamed spent time with Emirati children receiving treatment, checking on their wellbeing and wishing them a speedy recovery, reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to the health of its people.
