A UAE-funded military college has opened in Pakistan’s South Waziristan region. The Cadet College Wana has been built at a cost of $5.4 million (AED 19.8 million) under the directives of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The institution, catering to 500 students, is the largest educational venture in the tribal mountainous area. It is part of the ‘UAE Project to Assist Pakistan’, which has implemented several initiatives in Pakistan’s infrastructure, healthcare and social sectors.
