UAE leaders perform Eid Al Adha prayers

Members of the UAE's royal family have performed Eid Al Adha prayers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayhan offered Eid prayers alongside worshipers at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the UAE capital. 

He was joined by a number of royals, including His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister and His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, and high-ranking officials.

The Eid sermons emphasized the importance of family bonds and caring for one's parents.

Sheikh Mohamed also took to Twitter to highlight Eid as an occasion for "compassion, love and tolerance", adding that "humanity is in dire need of drawing inspiration from these meanings for the sake of a world of stability and prosperity".

In Dubai, Eid Al Adha prayers were performed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister, at the Zabeel Grand Mosque.
