France and the UAE share a common vision of accelerating the shift to green energy to tackle the growing threats posed by climate change, the French Minister of Foreign Trade, Olivier Becht, has said.
In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) he said the two countries are working together on low-carbon energy solutions.
Becht stressed the UAE and France believe in accelerating the transition to green energy, and addressing the growing risks posed by global warming, highlighting the rising number of natural disasters caused by climate change.
He also expressed his trust in the UAE’s ability to successfully host COP28 at Expo City Dubai in November, adding that the world shares his belief about the country’s leadership on climate change.
“The environmental challenges we face motivate us to be more courageous and committed in our actions to accelerate the energy transition. That is why the UAE and France have many joint projects in various fields, including hydrogen and nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, to produce clean energy that is the future of the sector,” he said.
The relations between the UAE and France are deep-rooted, Becht added, noting that he plans to visit the UAE soon to discuss ways of boosting the economic cooperation between the two countries and take it to the next level.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Sunday, sent a message of condolences to Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, over the victims of the tornado that hit the state of Paraná, which resulted in several deaths and injuries.
The UAE participated in the G20 Health Ministers Meeting and the G20 Joint Finance and Health Ministers Meeting, held in Polokwane, South Africa, on November 6-7, which brought together ministers and senior officials, along with representatives of several international organisations.
The Emirati field hospital in Rafah welcomed a delegation from the World Health Organisation (WHO) as part of a visit to review the UAE’s humanitarian and medical initiatives under Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, aimed at enhancing cooperation to bolster the healthcare sector in Gaza.
During an official visit to Russia, Lieutenant General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Assistant Commandant for Operations Affairs, met with Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport, and General Oleg Anatolyevich Baranov, Head of the Main Directorate of Internal Affairs of the City of Moscow.
