The UAE has announced that it is closely monitoring the ongoing developments between Pakistan and Afghanistan, calling for de-escalation and the avoidance of measures that could worsen tensions in the region as dozens of fighters were killed from both nations.
According to Reuters, Pakistan's military said that 23 of its soldiers were killed in the clashes on Sunday. The Taliban said nine on its side were killed.
Pakistan has also closed border crossings with Afghanistan following exchanges of fire between the two countries.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) emphasised the importance of prioritizing restraint and wisdom alongside adopting diplomatic means to resolve differences in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability in South Asia.
